The teleconference will provide you with the FCC's new November 18, 2009 decision setting deadlines of 90 and 150 days for municipalities to act on cell tower zoning requests (60 days for some currently pending requests) and allowing providers to go to court if the deadlines are not met. Also covered in this teleconference will be a description of the major issues and decisions in current federal zoning cases involving cellular towers, practice pointers on how municipalities can successfully handle cell tower zoning cases, and a description of the new federal backup power rule for cell towers and its implications for municipalities. You will gain a useful understanding regarding wireless communications technology for nontechnical staff, including overview discussions of cellular, PCS, DAS and WiMAX provided by wireless carriers. This teleconference will also provide specific methods to deal with RF safety considerations. You will come away with knowledge of the major current issues and practical advice on how to handle and defend cellular tower zoning applications.
